Solar and inverter installation has moved from a niche to a mainstream trade in Nigeria, driven by rising fuel costs and unreliable grid supply. The work is a mix of electrical skill and system design, and the design half is where most poor installations go wrong.
A workable system starts with an honest load assessment: what you actually intend to run, for how many hours, and what you are willing to switch off. From there an installer sizes the inverter, the battery bank and the panel array together. Undersized battery banks that are cycled too deeply are the single most common reason a system that worked well in its first year is dead by its third.
Typical jobs include installing hybrid inverters that combine grid, generator and solar input; replacing failed tubular or lithium battery banks; adding panels to an existing array; fixing charge controller faults; and rewiring a house onto a dedicated essential-loads circuit so the inverter is not asked to carry air conditioners and pressing irons.
Ask any installer for the specification they propose in writing — inverter rating, battery type and capacity, panel wattage and count — and what warranty applies to each component. The installers listed here have submitted their own details.
