POP ceilings are close to standard in Nigerian residential finishing, and the trade has its own specialists distinct from general plasterers. The work covers suspended plaster-of-Paris ceilings, decorative cornices and coving, recessed lighting channels, and screeded wall features.
The most common repair job is water damage. A roof leak or an overhead tank problem will show up first as a brown stain and then as a sagging or collapsed section of POP, and the repair is not worth doing until the source of the water has been fixed — otherwise it fails again in the next rains. Any competent installer will tell you this before quoting.
New installations are usually priced by area, with design complexity affecting the rate. Straight runs and simple recesses cost less than multi-level designs with curved profiles and concealed lighting. If you want concealed LED strips, agree the wiring responsibility early — sometimes the electrician does it, sometimes the POP installer.
Ask about drying time and whether painting is included; POP work almost always needs a painter afterwards, and some installers offer both. The professionals listed here have submitted their own listings.
